Moving House? How to Pack with Jumbo Storage Bags
Share
Boxes are great for books and kitchenware, but they're awkward for duvets, pillows and clothes. Large zip-up storage bags are often easier for soft items. Here's how to get the most out of them when you move or reorganise your home.
What fits in an 82L storage bag?
Our 82L Jumbo Heavy-Duty Storage Bag measures roughly 65 x 55 x 25cm. That's big enough for things like:
- A duvet and pillows
- A season's worth of coats and jumpers
- Towels and bed linen
- Cushions, throws and soft toys
Packing tips
- Pack soft items, not heavy ones. These bags are ideal for bulky, light items. Keep heavy things like books in boxes so the bags stay easy to carry.
- One room per bag. Packing by room makes unpacking much faster.
- Label each bag. A tag or sticky label on the handle saves opening every bag to find the bedding on the first night.
- Use colours as a system. The bags come in several colours, so you could use one colour per room or per person.
- Don't overfill. Leave enough room to close the zip easily so it doesn't strain.
- Pack a "first night" bag. Bedding, towels and a change of clothes in one bag means you're not hunting through everything when you arrive.
After the move: loft and under-bed storage
Once you've unpacked, the same bags work well for seasonal storage. Swap winter and summer clothes, or store spare bedding in the loft. The waterproof fabric helps keep dust and damp out.
